Local Artist Jenny Vyas Collaborates with Chicago Athletic Association Hotel for One-Night-Only Exhibition
On November 7th, the grand ballroom of the Chicago Athletic Association Hotel will take on a new form as it becomes the setting for Rupture, a one-night-only exhibition by Chicago artist Jenny Vyas. The space, known for its sweeping views of Millennium Park and timeless Venetian Gothic design, will be reimagined into an intimate gallery experience that blends fine art with architectural beauty. The evening invites viewers to experience a body of work that explores the balance between vulnerability, love, and the transformative power of surrender.
Vyas, known throughout Chicago for her semi-abstract figures and ethereal explorations of emotion, has built a body of work that is both introspective and universal. Her paintings often occupy the delicate space between vulnerability and strength, between light and shadow. Over the years, she has exhibited her work in nontraditional settings curated by Artist Replete, ranging from pop-up experiences to immersive installations that predate the gallery’s physical presence in downtown Chicago.
Her latest collection, Rupture, continues that evolution, exploring the fragile threshold we encounter when connecting ourselves to the unknown. As Vyas explains, “Rupture is about vulnerability and the space you must create for someone when you explore the idea of falling in love. The early stages can feel overwhelming, a moment where control slips away and surrender becomes necessary. It’s in that surrender that we rupture, opening space for love to enter our lives, not just romantic love, but love in all forms.”
Through her signature use of soft gradients, translucence, and emotional tension, Vyas captures that fleeting moment when resistance gives way to openness. Each piece reflects a quiet strength, asking viewers to confront their own relationship with control, intimacy, and change.
Rupture will unfold within the Chicago Athletic Association Hotel’s historic ballroom, an architectural marvel of carved wood, marble, and warm light. As the evening progresses, the venue itself becomes part of the narrative, a symbol of transformation and timeless beauty that serves as both backdrop and participant in the artist’s vision.
This one-night-only experience promises to blur the line between art and atmosphere, offering a rare glimpse into Vyas’s most personal exploration yet.
Those interested can RSVP through Eventbrite to secure entry for this exclusive evening inside one of Chicago’s most enchanting spaces. Upscale attire is encouraged to complement the elegance of the night.
