Roger J. Carter is a South Side Chicago–based contemporary artist known for transforming familiar objects into highly recognizable works that merge material, identity, and cultural reference. Through a practice rooted in experimentation, repetition, and control, Carter has developed a visual language that feels both playful and precise.
Using toy soldiers, LEGO bricks, and playing cards, Carter constructs layered portraits of musicians, activists, and cultural figures, recontextualizing mass-produced materials into compositions that feel personal and monumental.
