Artist Replete presents Aetherius by artist Chris Hynes. This sculpture began by giving new life to an old and broken hydraulic pump and transforming it into a Kudu.
"I sculpted the head, highlighting the gold leaf horns as a sort of majestic crown leading to the graceful curve of the neck. Every detail was meticulously crafted to showcase the natural beauty of the Kudu. The title Aetherius means “of or pertaining to the ether, the sky, or the air.”
Over the past 12 years the work of artist Chris Hynes has been internationally exhibited and collected. Each piece the artists creates combines the brutality of manmade metal and the perfection of nature. Using metal from scrap yards and molding it with clay, the artist is able to breathe life into his creations. Often times the found parts will spark an idea and guide the interpretation.
