Chicago stencil art guru, Trip One began as a street artist in grade school, but as time went on that rush from doing illegal graffiti began to fade. So he shifted his attention more towards canvas work and building custom frames. Often times you’ll see the number 372 appear in his work. Learn more by reading our interview with the artist. The History Behind The Napkins

Outside of the studio, Rawooh would often spend time at bars and jazz clubs alone creating new ideas on napkins. Many of these ideas later became painted works on canvas. The napkin became a foundation for new ideas. At many of the locations he would frequent, his tab would often be waived in exchange for the napkin sketch. An item originally made for cleaning, became a form of currency behind the hands of the artist.

Acrylic on 40" x 30" canvas

Artist Replete presents "FALL" by Chicago muralist Jenny Vyas. A recreation of Greek Mythological figure, Icarus and his final breaths.

Back Story: Deadalus, the Father of Icarus managed to create two sets of wings for himself and his son. The wings were made of feathers glued together with wax. He taught Icarus how to fly and warned him not to fly too high, which would cause the wax to melt, nor too low, which would cause the feathers to get wet with sea water. Together, they flew out of the tower towards freedom. However, Icarus soon forgot his father's warnings, and started flying higher and higher, until the wax started melting under the scorching sun. His wings dissolved and he fell into the sea and drowned. The area of the sea where he fell took the name Icarian Sea after him, while a nearby island was named Icaria.
