Artist Replete presents Alma Fuerte, the newest work from Chicago calligraffiti artist Tubs. Rendered in a restrained black-and-white palette, the piece merges traditional Mexican iconography with the artist’s signature ribbon-like lettering techniques. The skeletal figure, dressed in ornate attire and framed by a wide sombrero, carries a posture of stillness and reverence. Every fold of fabric, floral detail, and bone structure is sculpted through layered calligraphic strokes, giving the work a dimensional quality that feels carved rather than painted.

Alma Fuerte translates to “strong soul,” a fitting title for a portrait that embodies resilience, heritage, and quiet power.
