Artist Replete presents Aquatic by artist Chris Hynes. This sculpture began at a Junkyard, when the artist came across a pile of engine cylinders and immediately began to have ideas.
" Piecing the cylinders end to end created a feeling of some kind of submersible vehicle, and the fins became masts with rigging and sails to boot. I added a brass propeller to complete the mechanical aquatic feel.
A blacksmith friend of mine forged the “sword” or bill of this magnificent creature in his studio in New York. The end result is a stunning sculpture that showcases how discarded materials can be repurposed into creative and meaningful ways."

Using metal from scrap yards and molding it with clay, the artist is able to breathe life into his creations. Often times the found parts will spark an idea and guide the interpretation.
