Painted directly onto what appears to be a vintage window shutter, the piece carries the quiet weight of an object once used to control light and darkness. Rawooh turns that history into metaphor, merging a realistic human face with a fading skull beneath a crown of bright yellow petals. The contrast between the shutter’s aged surface and the vibrant teal background heightens the tension between life, memory, and decay.

Raul Ramirez, aka "Rawooh" has been known for years in Chicago for his eye-catching graffiti and mural work. His career began in 2006 as a street artist and later shifted to canvas work as his style began to mature. Some of his favorite mediums are painting on found objects, such as wooden crates.
