Artist Replete presents Tissage 7, a creation by Chicago based artist Michael Coakes.
From The Artist: With this series, “Tissage”, I’m interested in capturing a moment. Giving the viewer a look into the world of a woman who is very much in her own space. It’s simply about a moment between the future and the past.
These images are shot through burlap to achieve a painterly, semi-impressionistic quality that renders the subject anonymous though still relate-able. This fabric panel shifts the focus from her identity to her state of mind. It gives a sense that, rather than looking at the image, we're looking into the image.
Tissage is printed in signed and numbered limited editions of only 10 prints per image with the exception of "Special Edition" (SE) images which may be fewer than 10.
Born in Ft. Worth, Texas, and raised in Aurora, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, Michael Alan Coakes is a visual artist. He started studying art at a very young age. He developed an appreciation for a wide range of artists, from Picasso and Dali to Mucha, as a result of his numerous trips to the Art Institute of Chicago.
He has benefited from the guidance of numerous schools, notably the American Academy of Art in Chicago, in discovering and developing his own style in a range of media, including drawing, painting, and photography.
During the course of the previous ten years, he has had more than 60 solo and group exhibitions, and his work is included in public and private collections across the world.
