At the start of 2022, rapidly emerging artist Jenny Vyas collaborated with Thompson Chicago for a large procurement of print work, now featured in every room of the hotel. Since then, Vyas moved into a new studio space and completed a variety of new mural projects. With one such project amassing nearly 1 million views on social media, her following and list of collectors skyrocketed.
Conversations between Vyas and the Thompson reignited in March of this year with the idea of an intimate art exhibition at the hotel: a celebration of her eighth year as a full time artist in a show titled BREATHE.

" In 2012, I went through a life altering breakup. We were 4 months engaged and we broke up in the midst of planning our wedding. That break up was the catalyst.
During that painful period I couldn’t stop thinking about painting. Vulnerability became the core of my work, because it’s such a kryptonite for most of us. Lack of vulnerability led to the demise of my relationship then. And art, for me, became the conduit to explore those deeper, darker emotions I would otherwise tend to hide from.
Breathe is about closing an eight year cycle. Eight years ago, I started painting full-time. My work began on a quest to heal my wounds and unpack emotional trauma. In the past eight years, it has become a medium for others to connect with to heal their wounds, and that has been the greatest gift. Breathe is about falling in love again with life. It celebrates a journey that has led to such cathartic healing. "
