Artist Replete presents Sin Norte, a vibrant new work by Roco Drilo that blends folklore, surrealism and cultural memory into a single layered vision. The title, which translates to “without north” or “without direction,” hints at moments in life when certainty dissolves and intuition becomes our guide. Set against a warm ochre landscape, the piece centers on a hybrid canine figure crowned with a red vessel marked by ancestral iconography. Blue droplets fall from storm clouds above, creating a rhythmic dialogue between nature and emotion as the character carries the weight of its surroundings with quiet resilience.

Organic forms twist through the composition, guiding the eye across a world that feels both symbolic and instinctive. Through striking color, playful distortion and coded motifs, Roco explores themes of identity, wandering and the search for an inner compass when the path ahead becomes unclear. The result is a scene rich in mystery and storytelling, inviting viewers to interpret their own meaning within its layered imagery.

Roco Drilo is a self taught visual artist who was born in the city of Queretaro, Mexico. He began his career as a graphic and plastic artist in 2005. The influence found in his work derives from a love of 80’s pop culture, comics books, graffiti, and Mexico.

The artist generates a combination of colors, textures and shapes that evoke the traditional and cultural graphics of Mexican folk art with the added creation of characters blended with visual experiences.

He was is often created using digital illustration, watercolors, enamel, spray paint, and acrylic. Throughout his career thus far he’s participated in various exhibitions, along with cultural projects in Mexico and the U.S.A.
