Opening This Month: An Art Exhibition Inspired by TechChicago Week
Since 2021, TechChicago Week has developed a growing ecosystem of entrepreneurs, investors, and tech inspired patrons, all whom come together in celebration of new ideas and innovations. Over the past three years, TechChicago grew from an audience in the hundreds, to now thousands, with new events taking place each year. In the newest edition, an art curation titled BIONIC will highlight the ever-evolving relationship between humankind and technology.
FlexTech ai, a black owned I.T. company, who previously showcased in TechChicago last year, will collaborate with Artist Replete for a tech inspired exhibition from both local and international talent. Each artist was selected based on their thought-provoking work diving deeper into the conflict and symbiosis between humans and machines. Artists from Chicago, New York, and Spain will all visually translate a tech-inspired creation in a range of mediums.
ARTIST ROSTER
DAIN
One of the most influential street artists to emerge from the New York scene, DAIN combines the visual language of graffiti with collaged old portraits of Hollywood glamour stars. Crossing genres and often working single pieces back and forth between the street and studio, DAIN combines wheat pasting, silk-screening, spray paint, collage, and acrylic.
XELON
The brother of artist DEIH (seen below), the artist enters the Chicago market with over two decades of experience in both canvas work, illustration and murals found throughout Europe. Xelon plans to demonstrate his ability to create bionic portraits, where robotics and human life intertwine.
DEIH
Based in Valencia, Spain, DEIH translates his fascination for ‘The strangeness of life, into curious figures and imagery. Painting in the streets is his biggest passion as an artist. His work is inspired by comics, Japanese imagery, the dark and unknown side of existence, and cyberpunk. As a member of the XLF graffiti crew, he creates large scale murals with sharp illustrations.
NIKOLINA KOVALENKO
Nikolina Kovalenko is a Brooklyn-based artist who earned her MFA from the Moscow Surikov Art Institute in 2011 and studied at Universität der Künste, Berlin, in 2010. She's previously exhibited at MOMMA (Moscow Museum of Modern Art), across the USA, UK, UAE, Sweden, Russia, Japan, Germany, France, China, Belgium, and Iceland. Her environmental paintings were featured in Forbes Mexico.
JASON FARLEY
Chicago based painter Jason Farley uses his military background to apply immense focus and dedication into the art he makes today. “My paintings are a testament to the painstaking attention to detail I pour into each stroke of the brush. Through the medium of oil painting, I aim to capture the intricate nuances of my subjects, bringing them to life on the canvas."
CHRIS RWK
Chris RWK is an American artist who was born and raised in New York City. Much of his work is grounded in the ideas and imagery he was exposed to as a child in the 70s and 80s. This exposure includes television, comic books, film, music, and of course, robots.
JOSEPH MAYERNIK
With a stylus pen, sharp blade, or pencil in hand, the work of Joseph Maynerik consists of specific and often rare comics that coincide with the overall image of art. Each comic book resigns itself to sacrifice through selection. His work has been exhibited throughout the U.S. and Asia.
RAWOOH
Raul Ramirez, aka "Rawooh", has been known for years for his eye-catching mural work throughout the Chicagoland area. His career began in 2006 as a street artist and later shifted to canvas work as his style began to mature. Some of his favorite mediums are painting on found objects, such as wooden crates.
REHS
Specializing in art influenced by Extraterrestrial life, REHS provides collectors with unique work that often times carries sentimental value, especially for those who believe in life outside of planet Earth.
JENNY VYAS
Highly influenced by beauty in human emotions, Chicago artist Jenny Vyas reveals them through multiple expressions in her work. Her interest in human frailty is depicted in paintings where she creates abstracts of human silhouettes and fluctuating forms. All drawn from reality, personal experiences and memories.
BIONIC will host a special TechChicago event on Wednesday the 24th. Visit the official event link for more information or check out the RSVP tab below.
