Each and every year the French boutique hotel, Sofitel Magnificent Mile, throws a celebration to commemorate Bastille Day. This French national holiday marks the storming of the Bastille, an old French prison, which was a major event of the French Revolution. Over the years, the event grew with the addition of Chicago based street artist Rawooh, who added a picturesque ambience to hotel's exterior.
This marks the 3rd outdoor installation the artist has done at Sofitel, his fifth collaboration with the location thus far, in an evolving French inspired theme. In his most detailed piece of street art yet, Rawooh was commissioned to create a portrait of Marianne (the national personification of the French Republic), blended into a colorful beachside view of Saint Tropez.
The captivating public art was created in anticipation of a lavish Bastille Day event hosted by the hotel July 14th from 5:30 - 8:30pm. The celebration will feature a luxurious open bar with french inspired coastal eats from a playfully inspired menu. The featured artist, Rawooh, will be creating a work on canvas live, in a cohesive "Sense of Summer" theme.
