Puzzles Pieces

18" x 24"
Composed entirely from individual puzzle pieces, Dreaming Girl by Meredith Maher is presented by Artist Replete as a quiet, suspended moment between rest and imagination. A broken girl recreated anew, softened by stillness, her posture suggesting a gentle surrender to thought.
Depending upon where the viewer stands, her gaze shifts and reveals something different, inviting a personal reading of the moment. What initially reads as a painted image slowly reveals itself as hundreds of carefully placed pieces, each carrying its own history while contributing to a unified whole. The work rewards close inspection with depth, texture, and subtle shifts in color and tone.
Created over three months of daily, meticulous labor, Dreaming Girl reflects Maher’s ongoing exploration of memory, time, and reconstruction. Her process mirrors the way experiences accumulate and resurface, pieces of the past reorganized into new meaning in the present. Here, the puzzle pieces become both structure and metaphor, holding together an intimate portrait shaped by patience, intuition, and time.
